Designed Around the Intake Point

From manual sack opening to controlled process feed.

A bag tipping station is the first controlled point between delivered raw materials and the production process.

The operator places a sack on the working shelf, opens it within the enclosed intake area and allows the material to fall through a protective grate into the hopper. Extraction creates inward airflow around the tipping zone, helping prevent dust from escaping into the working environment. From the hopper, the material can be transferred by gravity, screw conveyor, rotary valve, flexible conveyor, vacuum conveying or pneumatic conveying.

Fanpod treats the station as part of the complete material route. Hopper geometry, discharge arrangement, screening, filtration, cleaning access and downstream connection are selected together so the manual intake point supports the performance of the wider process line.

01 / DUST CONTROL

Contain the dust where the sack is opened.

Fine powders can become airborne within seconds of cutting a sack. The tipping hood provides a defined intake zone, while local extraction draws dust-laden air away from the operator and toward the filter system. Strip curtains, access doors and sealed joints can be selected according to the required level of containment.

Where an integral fan and filter are not required, the hood can be arranged for connection to a central dust-collection system. For higher-duty applications, automatic reverse-pulse cleaning can remove accumulated dust from the filter elements and return it to the hopper.

02 / OPERATOR INTERFACE

Make repetitive sack handling easier to perform.

The support surface is positioned to make loading and opening more comfortable than lifting a sack directly over a deep hopper. Ergonomic working heights can be selected for the sack size, operator profile and surrounding layout. A recessed foot area gives the operator closer access to the working surface, reducing unnecessary reaching.

Gas-spring-assisted doors or hoods help control opening effort. The station can also be supplied with access interlocks, lighting, mobile casters or a push handle where the production arrangement requires repositioning.

03 / MATERIAL PROTECTION

Screen, break and protect the next process step.

Packaging fragments, compacted powder and oversize particles can create problems after the intake point. A robust inlet grate provides basic protection and can help break larger pieces as the sack is emptied. Where tighter control is needed, Fanpod can integrate a vibrating screen below the grate.

Screen opening, access arrangement and cleaning method are selected for the product. Lump breakers can be added below the hopper for cohesive or storage-compacted materials, while magnetic separation can be included where ferrous contamination control is required.

04 / HIGHER CONTAINMENT

Extend the concept for sensitive and potent powders.

Some materials require a more controlled operator interface than a standard open-front station. A containment configuration may use a glovebox arrangement, negative-pressure enclosure, dedicated filtration and a continuous liner for removing empty sacks without opening the controlled zone.

HEPA filtration, inert-gas purging, oxygen monitoring and other protective measures are application-dependent. They must be defined through the material hazard assessment, required containment level and site safety philosophy rather than assumed as standard features.

05 / PROCESS INTEGRATION

Connect the station to the way your plant already operates.

The hopper outlet is engineered around the next piece of equipment. A short gravity drop may be appropriate for a mixer or holding hopper. A screw conveyor or flexible conveyor may provide metered transfer. Vacuum or pneumatic conveying may be selected when the receiving point is remote, elevated or enclosed.

The same station can be configured with feeder interfaces, rotary valves, isolation valves, inspection access and level indication. This keeps the manual receiving operation aligned with dosing, batching and automated production requirements.
