What Are Mixproof Valves?

Mixproof valves, also called double seat valves, are specialized sanitary valves that allow two separate lines—product and cleaning fluid (CIP/SIP)—to be connected in a single valve assembly while preventing cross-contamination. Each valve has two seats and a seal that ensures complete separation even under high pressure and temperature conditions.

Unlike single seat valves, Mixproof valves allow production and cleaning lines to operate simultaneously, significantly increasing uptime and reducing the risk of bacterial contamination in sensitive food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processes.

How Mixproof Valves Work

Each Mixproof valve has two separate sealing seats: one controls the product line, the other controls the CIP line. A seal tube between the two seats ensures complete separation and prevents cross-contamination. Pressure sensors or leakage detection systems monitor the seal to ensure product safety.

This design allows cleaning fluids to circulate through the CIP line while product flows in the adjacent line, dramatically reducing downtime and maintaining hygienic conditions.
